Professor & Lead applicant

Maarten Steinbuch

About me

I am is a high-tech systems scientist, serial tech entrepreneur, supervisory board member and keynote speaker.  I hold the chair of Systems & Control at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), where I am Distinguished University Professor. Also I am Scientific Director of TU/e High Tech Systems Centre and of Eindhoven Engine. My research spans from automotive engineering (with a focus on connected cars and clean vehicles) to mechatronics, motion control, and fusion plasma control. I am most known for my work in the field of advanced motion control, as well as in robotics for high precision surgery.

Personal Motivation

Three things I like about NEON: Working with people from different disciplines on relevant societal domains, building new things/organisations, inventing new ideas, applying control, connecting people. I really like the alpha, beta, gamma combination and challenges! I also like to extend my modelling knowledge towards applicatons of Agent Based Modelling. Towards a sustainable world, and a lively Brainport region.

Next to being lead applicant I am an expert in

PI, systems thinking, systems and control, modelling power trains and energy systems
